The importance of bees for biodiversity and food security is fundamental to humanity, which is why the United Nations has proclaimed May 20th as World Bee Day, thereby also reminding us of the decline in the global bee population and the urgent need to protect bees. Reason enough to visit the Cologne sculptor Gereon Krebber, former student at London’s Tate, master student of Tony Cragg and professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, in his studio, where it is humming and buzzing and the artist is firing ceramic sculptures into which a colony of bees will move for his next exhibition project “Kunsthonig”, supervised by beekeeper Kathrin Bielfeldt.
