Nik Nowak’s new works explore powerful mobile sound systems in East Java (Indonesia) as tools of resistance, community, and cultural expression. At the centre are two new sculptures Hantu Sound System (2026), a sculptural vehicle bridging acoustic warfare and contemporary subculture, and Lontong Kupang (2026), an immersive sound installation evoking equatorial sonic environments, as well as a video documentation and new photographs.
